There's help just for the asking!
In a world of frustration, stress and trying to make ends meet, sometimes you need a helping hand to take care of what really matters...your child(ren). Kathi's Kids is a free community program that is here for you. With a dedicated volunteer staff, we want to help relieve some of your cares. Let us help you with your child(ren).

What is The Cost?
This is a free program however donations are accepted. Checks can be made out to PCC in care of Kathi's Kids, recognized nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code.

Is there anything I need to do?
You will be asked to fill out a registration form for our records. This will help us to know some basic information about your child. (i.e. phone, name address)

Why this program?
This is a genuine program to help children to become all that they were born to become. It is a program that is staffed by volunteers, people who just care enough to give their financial support, time and service. It has been a vision of Kathy Shorter (founder of Kathi's Kids) to reach out to children in a special way to help with life's hurts during childhood. Kathy has shared on many occasions her own life story, of growing up with a lack of encouragement and self-esteem, and eventually, (at age 18) discovering she was adopted. Now, a successful author, television host, mother of three of her own children, together with her husband Dr. Donald Shorter Sr. and the Kathi's Kids volunteers, she and many others are fulfilling their desire to give back to children in need through Kathi's Kids outreach.

All a child needs is an opportunity. We are to help give that opportunity, maybe an opportunity you didn't have.

Who are the people that will help?
They vary in their professions. Some are attorney's, teachers, business owner's, employees, homemakers, college student and the list goes on. All volunteers had a Washington State Patrol Background Check and are citizens concerned for our children's safety and well being, and are from various multicultural backgrounds. Students in higher grades, 4th & 5th grades, are qualified to participate in the Future Aviators Association training program.  This arm of the Kathi's Kids program focuses on inspiring students to excel in math, science, and reading along with developing strong self discipline skills to help students to be prepared for a future career in the aviation field through the Future Aviators program.

How does my child get to the location, and where are you located?
We have routes to certain neighborhoods, you can also drop off your child if you desire. Children must be dropped off by 10:30 am and picked up at 12:30pm. Kathi's Kids outreach is held at: Pacific Christian Center Church, 3211 112th Street East, Tacoma WA 98446, (253) 539-2721.

How does my child get started and what ages are involved?
If we have a bus coming to your neighborhood, there will be a designated area where the bus will pick up and drop off your child(ren). Check the route information sheet for the pick up and drop off time and location. Pick up should be around 9:30 am and drop off should be around 1:00 pm (check route and information). If you are bringing child(ren), the program begins at 10:30 am. Registration forms must be filled out and completed for your child(ren) to participate in this program. This is a free program that children will enjoy! Ages 7-11 (1st grade - 5th grade) . We will periodically have meetings for you to attend to keep you informed of what is going on with your child(ren). Thank you for allowing us to help.
